It has never been so easy or so much fun to find a used car . Although we have much to be thankful for with the internet, it does take some of the magic out of car-hunting, and I must confess that I like to start my hunt with a good old-fashioned car review magazine. Nothing prepares me better for my search than sitting on the sofa with a cup of strong tea and 100 or so pages of pure excitement. First you go through the specifications, miles per gallon, speed, engine size, to weed out the cars that don't match your basic criteria. But at some stage, I have to admit, emotion does tend to take over. Although it's not practical, and it's certainly too expensive, you cannot help but drift into that day dream of what it would be like to be driving down a French motorway in that sexy red convertible sports car. Then back to reality and practically with a thump. Diesel or petrol? How high would the insurance be? Reliability? What do the reviews say on safety, comfort and handling? Often the key question is whether it is roomy enough to take the ever expanding brood of kids, or even whether the upholstery will show up the dog hairs. But hey, it doesn't hurt to dream.
