Used Car Dealers in the UK

Hopes that the UK had finally emerged from a protracted recession were dashed at the end of 2009 when it was announced that economic output is still contracting. Though the average man or woman on the street may not be aware of the exact percentages, they do know that the recession has had a profound affect on the way they live their lives.

More than anything else they have had to postpone large purchase, most notably new homes and cars. In this article we are going to discuss whether UK residents should purchase a new or a used vehicle at this point in time.

While most people naturally prefer new cars to used ones, there are several things interested car buyers must consider before they buy. The first and most important one is that new cars depreciate at an alarming rate. According to industry numbers, the average new car will lose half of its value in the first five years. That is why many UK buyers are choosing to visit used car dealers in their area.

In fact, sales of used cars have improved a bit even in the midsts of a recession. Prices are also rising steadily as consumers who absolutely must have a vehicle are opting for a used one.

But the private market for used vehicles is still languishing and buyers desire the added security they find at a used car dealership. Specifically, used car dealerships now offer warranties, so if something is wrong with the vehicle, they must cover the cost of repairs.
